While emerging holographic display appro aches have been successful in achieving large etendue and high image quali ty as seen by a camera, the large etendue also reveals a problem that make s existing displays impractical: the sampling of the holographic field by the eye pupil. Existing methods have not investigated this issue due to th e lack of displays with large enough etendue, and, as such, they suffer fr om severe artifacts with varying eye pupil size and location.\n\nWe show t hat the holographic field as sampled by the eye pupil is highly varying fo r existing display setups, and we propose pupil-aware holography that maxi mizes the perceptual image quality irrespective of the size, location and orientation of the eye pupil in a near-eye holographic display. We validat e the proposed approach both in simulations and a prototype holographic di splay configuration, and show that our method significantly outperforms ex isting approaches.\n\nRegistration Category: FULL ACCESS, EXPERIENCE PLUS ACCESS, EXPERIENCE ACCESS, TRADE EXHIBITOR\n\nLanguage: ENGLISH\n\nFormat: IN-PERSON URL:https://sa2022.siggraph.org/en/full-program/?id=papers_466&sess=sess15 3 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
