Xi was born in China in 1983. He graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 2007 and received a master's degree in animation and digital art from School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California in 2020. He has been an independent artist for many years and has participated in many art projects. His animation works have been a part of exhibit in the Getty Museum and other art galleries. The Real-Time Animation short Metamorphosis has received the Director’s Choice Award for the Thomas Edison Black Maria Film, runner up in First Look 2021 Industry Award, Got official selection in Telluride Film Festival Student Prints, Unreal Engine Student Showcase Spring 2021, etc.
