Toshiya Hachisuka is an Associate Professor at University of Waterloo. He was also an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo from 2014 to 2020 and an Assistant Professor at Aarhus University from 2011 to 2014. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at San Diego in 2011 and a B.Eng. from the University of Tokyo in 2006.

His research interests include light transport simulation, computational statistics, numerical analysis, physically-based animation, and real-time rendering. His primal approach to research is the development of new numerical methods based on a mathematical reformulation of a problem. He has a number of publications spanning across these topics.
