Submission Deadline: 15 August 2022, 23:59 AoE (Submissions are now closed)

The SIGGRAPH Asia 2022 Posters program provides an interactive forum for innovative ideas that are not yet fully polished, for high-impact practical contributions, for behind-the-scenes views of new commercial and artistic work, and for solutions that help solve challenging problems. Contributors are expected to produce a stand-alone graphic display (a poster) that demonstrates incremental, preliminary, partial, or innovative insights that are important but not fully developed. We encourage submissions from animators, developers, educators, students, and researchers from academia and industry. Typical examples include:

  • Geometry and Modelling
  • Animation, Performance Capture, and Motion Synthesis
  • Lighting, Rendering and Material Representations
  • Computer Vision and Image Understanding
  • Machine Learning Techniques for Computer Graphics
  • Image and Video Processing Applications
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality
  • Computer-Aided Design
  • Information Visualization and Scientific Visualization
  • Multimedia Applications
  • Video Gaming
  • Web Graphics and Mobile Graphics
  • 3D Audio
  • Creativity and Digital Art

This year, under the theme of Colorful World, we also particularly invite submissions related to:

  • Color
  • Diversity
  • Aesthetics

Should I submit my work to Technical Papers, Technical Communications or Posters program?

Please scroll down for more details on how to submit.

How to Submit

Submissions are due on 15 August 2022, 23:59 AoE

  • Log in to the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System
  • Select "Begin a New Submission"
  • Select "Create" for the Posters submission form

Please review and carefully follow the submission requirements below. Incomplete or wrongly completed submissions will not be considered.

We strongly encourage starting the submission form well before the deadline. Please make sure to check size limit on the submissions (main files, additional materials, etc.) described in the submission form before you prepare your submissions. Submit your work before the submission deadline 15 August 2022, 23:59 AoE. All forms must be completed, and all materials must be successfully uploaded by that time. The submission deadline will be strictly enforced. Please do not wait until the last minute to upload your files. For more information about uploading files for your submission, please see Uploading Files.

Sorting Topic

The Posters Chair will use the Sorting Topic to assign your submission to reviewers who are best able to assess your work. Please be as accurate as possible when specifying it.

Dual submissions

The SIGGRAPH Asia 2022 Posters is dedicated to presenting new, unpublished work. Work that is under review elsewhere (for example, to a journal or another conference) cannot be submitted to the Posters program. Such dual submissions are widely considered unethical.

Submissions with new, incremental results based on previous publications are a common occurrence. As usual, one would need to reference the original paper(s) and clearly explain what in the submission is new. To be accepted, the jury expects about 50% new material that goes beyond the previous publication.

Submission

Your submission must include the following materials and information.

  • A 1-2 pages document describing your work in PDF format is required. Submissions that are more than 2 pages long or that are improperly formatted will not be considered.
  • The submitted PDF must be self-contained, formatted according to the poster template described in the FAQs below. Check the detailed instructions in the FAQs below.
  • You will be assigned a Submission ID number when you create an Online Submission Form and this number will be used to identify your submission throughout the review process. In all other ways, the document must be in the final format. For instance it should not include the names of author on the work and their institutions, since the reviewing process is double-blind. Submissions that are more than 1-2 pages (including the references) or that are improperly formatted will not be considered. One representative image (JPG) suitable for usage in promotional materials: All submissions should include a representative digital image that should be of the highest print quality possible, pixel resolution of at least 1500 x 1200 (at least 300 dpi at 5 inches wide, with depth proportional) or the highest possible screen grab. Images must be submitted in JPG format.
  • Web Image: In JPG or PNG format max. 200 KB for website publication.
  • Up to three supplementary materials (OPTIONAL):

    • Images: high-resolution images in one of these formats: TIFF, JPEG. PNG, BMP, or GIF.
    • Video: In QuickTime, MPEG-4, or DivX Version 5 (or later) formats. The total length of all videos should not exceed five minutes.
    • Documentation: includes images, graphs, charts, and so forth. Supporting documentation should be in PDF format, should contain mostly captioned figures or tables. Poster abstracts, and in general any content that has an abstract as its primary documentation, can be up to two pages in length (1-2 Pages).

English Review Service

If English is not your first language; you may use the English Review Service to help with the text of submissions. Please note that this takes time, so your submission should be sent to the English Review Service well before the final deadline.

Educator's Resources Submission option

Those submitting content to a SIGGRAPH conference have the option of donating materials of educational value to ACM SIGGRAPH online resources for the benefit of the education community. Learn more.

For more information about uploading files for your submission, please see Uploading Files.

For additional submission information, please see the Submissions FAQ.

General Submission Policies

For more details on SIGGRAPH Asia’s General Submission Policies, please go to SIGGRAPH Asia’s Submission Information. page.

Evaluation

All Posters submissions will be reviewed by a jury of academic and industry professionals in computer graphics, vision, visualization, CAD, animation, games, HCI, interactive techniques, art, and related fields. The Posters Committee is responsible for conducting the jury process in order to set up a high-quality program, with attractive posters sessions.

Notice To Contributors

All contributors to SIGGRAPH Asia Annual Conferences are now required to use ACM's rights management system to grant rights to publish accepted content rather than through the online submission system. Essentially, submission tracking, jury review, and acceptance remain the same, but now the rights management is through ACM, the parent organization of SIGGRAPH Asia.

You will be asked to complete an ACM rights management form, which includes permission to record and distribute the audio and video of your recorded presentation through official channels of ACM/SIGGRAPH Asia. For most content types, this will be a Permission and Release form, which allows authors to retain copyright.

More Information on these options (the FAQ is particularly useful)

As a contributor to an ACM-sponsored event, the following expectations apply to you, should your content be accepted for presentation:

  • You have the permission to use everything that is in your presentation. This includes securing permission to use third-party material, and providing documentation of that permission to ACM. (More information on the proper use of third-party material in your presentation)
  • If you are using copyrighted musical compositions in your presentation, you must secure performing rights licenses.
  • You must have the authority to grant ACM the right to distribute your presentation.

Once your contribution is accepted, you will receive a link via email to the appropriate form for your contribution.

Upon Acceptance

If your work is accepted as a poster, you will be required to prepare the final high-resolution poster file following the specifications in the acceptance notification. Please note: The schedule to provide your final material after receiving the acceptance notification is very tight. We reserve the right to reject late submission of the high-resolution poster files. Please plan your personal schedule accordingly.

For guidance, we have provided the vertical template in the Adobe Illustrator format. You are welcome to use these materials for general formatting suggestions. However, your abstract must also conform to these updated formatting guidelines.

  • The organizers will be responsible for printing and hanging at the allocated posters area.
  • You must be available to present your poster during the Poster Presentation sessions. If you are unable to attend SIGGRAPH Asia 2022, please contact us at posters_asia@siggraph.org.
  • We encourage you to bring a portable computer to demo your work. Outlets for power may not be available, so ensure your computer is well charged.
  • Posters are displayed in unsecured areas; do not leave your computers or valuable equipment unattended during the pre-scheduled poster presentation periods or other equipment unattended with the poster.

For instructions about preparation and delivery of your final content for publications, see the poster format examples. Please carefully follow the instructions in the acceptance letter.

You will be able to update your basic submission information and any final materials so that it can be included in the conference program and website. This information needs to be finalized within two weeks after receipt of acceptance notifications. Please be prepared to deliver your final versions of your information and work on or before these dates.

Posters Presenter and Contributor Recognition

Presenters / Contributors of each accepted submission must register for at least one conference pass. Please visit our registration page to view the various registration categories for each program.

Please see the Recognition Benefits for a summary of what you will receive if your work and/or proposal are accepted by SIGGRAPH Asia 2022.

An email will be sent to the main contact of the submission. You are entitled to one 25% discount for any ticket that allows you to enter the posters venue. Two presenters per accepted submission.

Publication
All work selected for the SIGGRAPH Asia Posters will be documented in the SIGGRAPH Asia 2022 website and ACM Digital Library. Accepted Poster author will need to prepare a two-page abstract of your work for the ACM Digital Library as well as the physical poster to be displayed at the conference. This abstract should be a self-contained document, formatted according to the SIGGRAPH template for Posters. You are welcome to submit auxiliary material along with the abstract.

FAQs

Poster Submission

Poster Presentation

POSTER SUBMISSION

How do I decide whether to submit my work as a paper, technical communication, or poster?

The Technical Papers program, which includes both Conference and Journal tracks, is the most competitive of these three. Technical Papers give you a chance to work out your ideas at greater length and describe them in a citable archive. Both Technical Communications and Posters programs, on the other hand, provide dynamic forums for new and though-provoking ideas, which might be not suitable for Technical Papers or not yet fully-polished, novel applications that address interdisciplinarity, high-impact practical contributions, valuable know-how from production work, e.g., behind-the-scenes view of new commercial or artistic work, and other small projects, which are incomplete or not of sufficient extent to warrant a technical paper. The difference between Technical Communications and Posters is their presentation forms. Technical Communications papers are up to 4 pages in length and will be presented in a 20-minute talk, while Posters are up to 2 pages and will be presented in the form of posters without talk.

Should I submit a digital version of the actual poster for jury review?

No, this is not necessary. Poster submissions are evaluated based on their abstracts, supporting material, and research value. If you would like to provide a digital version of your poster, you may do so as a supplementary image.

Can I include a supplementary video with my poster submission?

Yes! If your submission has an interactive, animation, or simulation component, we strongly encourage you to submit a video demonstrating your work in action, as it may be very difficult to evaluate your work without this. Videos can be included as part of the poster presentation session.

The SIGGRAPH Asia English Review Service failed our schedule, so it is SIGGRAPH Asia's fault that our proposal is late. Can I have an extension?

No. The English Review Service makes no guarantee for service turn-around. It is also administered separately from the conference program. Please schedule your work appropriately. For the best chance of having your submission reviewed by the English Review Service, please make sure it is submitted and marked "complete" in the submission system at least 14 days before your program's submission deadline.

What does a 2 pages abstract submission look like? What does a print ready poster look like?

Poster authors should prepare their documents according to the ACM SIGGRAPH formatting instructions. Remember: the jury will review the abstract, but the poster is what you will display at the conference.

POSTER PRESENTATION

When will there be a posters presentation?*

Presentation timings will be from 13:00 – 14:00 on the following days:
- Wednesday, 7 December 2022
- Thursday, 8 December 2022

Two of my poster submissions were accepted. Which one should I present?

If possible, both posters should have a presenter. If your submissions have co-authors and they are attending the conference, please ask them to help present. If you are the only author attending the conference, you can present a different poster at each session. You may wish to leave a note on each poster indicating the session at which you will present it.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

ACM SIGGRAPH strives to create a welcoming and nurturing community for everyone working in computer graphics and interactive techniques independent of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, religion, country of origin, or abilities. Work submitted to this program should be in alignment with these values.

For any submission to an ACM SIGGRAPH conference or Standing Committee activity, the person in charge (PIC) of the program should be aware of and sensitive to potential issues pertaining to the ACM SIGGRAPH values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. If an issue is identified, then the authors of the submission shall be asked to modify their submission to resolve the issue before acceptance. If the PIC is unsure if there is an issue, then they should contact the Chair of the DEI Committee for advice.
